Analysis of Simplicity and Minimalism Elements in Traditional and Contemporary Iraqi Architecture

Abstract:

Architecture in Iraq has a long and rich history that reflects the cultural, religious, and social evolution of its people. Traditional Iraqi architecture in cities like Baghdad, Mosul, and Basra has been influenced by Islamic, Mesopotamian, and Ottoman design principles (Al-Thahab, 2021). The traditional buildings reflect a harmony with nature, cultural symbolism, and practicality.

Abstract:

Traditional Iranian architecture, particularly in Yazd and Isfahan, reflects a deep focus on simplicity, use of local materials, and harmony with the environment. In Yazd, simplicity is seen in functional, climate-responsive designs. In Isfahan, it appears through symmetrical layouts and balanced spatial organization, blending beauty with cultural meaning.
